Twenty-seven representatives from the New Meadows Community Partnership in Magherafelt recently attended the remembrance service at Fort Dunree, Inishowen, Co Donegal.

The service was to remember the 289 men and women of Inishowen who gave their lives in the First World War of 1914 – 1918.

Laying a wreath in Remembrance of the men and women from Inishowen who fought and died during World War 1 are :- Sean Henry, Good Relations Officer, Magherafelt District Council,  Padraigin Ui Raifeartaigh and Barry Freestone.

The New Meadows Community Partnership and the Inishowen Community Group have been working in partnership since 2008.

Sean Henry, Good Relations Officer, Magherafelt District Council, who also attended, said this year’s commemoration was particularly poignant, as it is the centenary of the First World War.
