BUDDING young David Beckhams took to the pitch at Cookstown High School last week for the soccer camp organised by Molesworth Presbyterian Church in association with Coaching For Christ.

Around 70 to 80 children aged six to 12 from different communities, enjoyed polishing their soccer skills each day with the week culminating in a World Cup competition, medal presentation, and a barbecue and prize night which was attended by over 150 friends and family members.

Assistant minister at Molesworth Presbyterian, Graeme Orr said it was a really fantastic week.

“The weather was great - last year we were under the trees for shelter from the rain, but this year we were sheltering from the sun! We also had talks from the Bible each day on creation, sin, Jesus and salvation. One young boy was saved which is what the camp is all about. It was a great end to a great week,” he added.

After three successful years in Cookstown, it is hoped the soccer camp will be held again next year.
