Mental health services under spotlight in Mid Ulster

Service users are asked to come along and have a say on the future of Northern Health and Social Care Trust (NHSCT) mental health services, at a user group for the Cookstown and Magherafelt areas on Monday 9 May 2016, 10.30am, Woodlands Beacon Centre, Molesworth Street, Cookstown.

All mental health service users past or present and their carers are welcome to come along to the group. People have a chance to talk about what they feel is good or bad with services and where they would like to see improvements or changes that would help the recovery of service users and the experience of their families.

Service User Groups are held in Mid Ulster every three months.

A Service User Consultant for Mental Health Services has recently been appointed who facilitates the groups. Marlyn has used mental health services personally from an early age and understands the issues that patients and clients may have. Marlyn Grant, Service User Consultant said,

“Information I am given at the groups is shared with senior management at team meetings in mental health services. It is then used when considering the direction or services and changing how we do things to help the patient. I also inform the groups about new services and any “A focus of the Trust’s Reform and Modernisation Programme (RAMP) is to develop recovery focused integrated mental health services that are provided at home where possible. The Trust is committed to involving service users in all decisions relating to the direction of services and my role helps give our service users, the people that matter, a say.
