UNISON Northern Ireland are planning on taking rolling action against the Northern Health and Social Care Trust’s (NHSCT) introduction of staff car parking charges by holding a second protest.
Union members held a protest at Causeway hospital on 28th February, and this is being followed by another protest this time at Antrim Hospital on Friday March 7 from 12-2pm.
UNSION have highlighted to the NHSCT that staff are not prepared to become the brunt of more mismanagement. UNISON are say that the Trust have ignored staff views on proposed charging and from UNISON’s own questionnaire with over 600 responses, 98% are opposed to any charges with 79% saying they are willing to take industrial action.
Joe McCusker, Regional Organiser, from UNISON said: “This is the first opportunity for the staff to show their opposition to these charges, The Trust tried to introduce car parking charges 3 years ago and backed down due to the overwhelming response from the staff. We are calling on the NHSCT to again see sense and withdraw the proposal.”
UNISON will also be working with our union colleagues in holding a joint meeting with staff in both Antrim Area Hospital and Causeway Hospital.
