A young Pomeroy man who was involved in a three vehicle car crash that sent six people to hospital, remains in a crticial condition today [Wednesday].

The incident took place around 8.50pm on Saturday on the Annaghill Road near Augher and closed off the area for some time according to police.

Conor Coyle is now being treated at the Royal Victoria Hospital after being transferred from Erne Hospital on Sunday.

The 21-year-old is in the hospital’s intensive care unit according to a spokesperson for the Belfast Trust. He is thought to have suffered a broken arm and leg, and internal injuries.

“The RTC involved three vehicles,” said a police spokesperson. “Six casualties were taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries, and the road was closed for some time whilst [it] was cleared.

Mid Ulster councillor Cathal Mallaghan, who is also from Pomeroy, said: “I just hope he makes a full recovery.

“The Coyle family are very close friends - this is a very difficult time for all of them.”

It is understood that Conor is a handball coach with Pomeroy Plunketts GAC.
