Ian McCrea formally entered the Assembly election contest this week, saying that he worked for people ‘all the time, not just at election time’.

The sitting DUP assembly man now faces a challenge from party collegaue Keith Buchanan who is also standing in Mid Ulster.

I have at all times sought to be the effective voice of Mid Ulster

Ian McCrea

“Like my father before me I am honoured that when people are in need for help they know that my door is open. We set the standard of service in Mid Ulster and I desire to continue in my efforts to improve life for everyone in the area.”

He added: “I have had the privilege and honour of serving the people of Mid Ulster as their MLA for the past nine years. I have at all times sought to be the effective voice of Mid Ulster, not only in the Assembly Chamber or Committees, but especially making representation for my constituents within the various departments on day to day bread and butter issues.

“As a Christian I have resolutely taken my stand in defence of the rights of the unborn child and consistently voted against the attempt to redefine marriage.”
