COALISLAND man Kenny Holdsworth was one of thousands of people who took part in the hugely successful Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon race day to raise much-needed funds for this year’s official charity, Cancer Focus Northern Ireland.
Joyce Savage, the charity’s Head of Appeals and Marketing, said the charity wanted to send a big thank you to everyone who took part in a marathon event, whether it was the full 26.2 miles, relay, fun run or walk.
“It was a fantastic fun family day out as well as giving elite athletes the chance to compete against each other. Everyone had their own personal challenge and goal to achieve and we are so impressed with the effort everyone made.”
“The support Cancer Focus has received from everyone so far has been overwhelming. The funds you raise will provide vital lifeline services for local cancer patients and their families going through one of the toughest times in their lives. All the money raised stays in Northern Ireland and no matter how much you give, it all helps make a real difference,” she added.
