KILDRESS man Des Keenan has been joined by Fermanagh Gaelic manager Peter Canavan,Tyrone Rose Catherine Sherry and Cllr Sean Clarke to help set him on course for his Snowdon Challenge in aid of Action MS.

Action MS is inviting you to join Des and challenge yourself to reach the summit of Mount Snowdon and take steps to help beat multiple sclerosis.

The fundraising challenge will take place over the weekend from Friday 31 August to Sunday 2 September 2012, with professional guides and all travel and accommodation arranged by the charity.

Des Keenan of Kildress, an avid Action MS supporter and organiser of the Walk the Walk in Wales Snowdon Challenge event said: “I was amazed to find out that Northern Ireland has the second highest incidence of multiple sclerosis in the world. I know the difficult challenges that people with MS are living with every day here in our community and I have also seen at first hand the positive impact that Action MS can have.

“I hope that many people will take up the challenge to Walk the Walk in Wales and raise vital funds to support the work of Action MS.”

Chief Executive of Action MS, Ann Walker said: “I welcome Des Keenan’s latest initiative to support people living with MS. I would encourage everyone to join us for what will be a wonderful weekend and an experience to remember. You don’t have to be an experienced hill walker- anyone who enjoys walking can take part. There will be groups to suit both the experienced and novice walker alike.”

“We at Action MS simply could not offer any of our services without support of people like Des and all those who will take up this Challenge. We receive no government or statutory funding. Yet many people living with MS have complex needs and their quality of life depends upon these being met sensitively and professionally,” she added.
