THE recent Golf Classic held at Moyola Golf and Country Club in Castledawson and organised by members of Cookstown and Magherafelt Lions Club, has raised £2,500.
This year’s beneficiary was Kilronan School Magherafelt. Kilronan school, Magherafelt, is a co-educational interdenominational special school serving up to eighty pupils with severe and/or profound learning difficulties from age three to 19 years.
Just before the school term finished in June the cheque was presented to Shannon a Kilronan pupil by Lion Club President Emma McCann. Thanks was extended by the school principal Allison Millar who confirmed that this considerable sum of money would enable work to commence on the anticipated sensory garden.
The overall winner of the Golf Competition was Cathal Scullion with a score of 42 points. Cathal also collected the Regan Tile Design perpetual trophy. In second place on 41 points was Des Cleary and in third place on 40 points was Eugene Donaghy.
Taking first place in the ladies section was Kim Fee followed by Geraldine O’Kane. In First team place were Seamus Graffin, Paddy Henry, Trevor Alexander and Cathal Scullion. Second team players were Eugene Donaghy, David Simpson, Ben Kennedy and Jack O’Neill. Tom Ferris performed best on the first nine while Dominic Fitzpatrick was best on the second nine and were rewarded accordingly.
