THIS is the Latvian couple who have been sleeping rough on the streets of Cookstown for over three months.
55 year-old Modris Aunina and his 49 year-old wife Sarmite have been sleeping in disused garages and sheds around the town after being evicted from their property in April.
The couple, who came to Northern Ireland in 2007 for a “better life”, say they have no-where to go to for help after being turned away by the Housing Executive over unpaid rent.
Local hostels have also been unable to help the Auninas because they do not want to be separated.
Speaking to the MAIL Mr Aunina said he and his wife have “lost everything”.
“We only have the clothes we wear,” he said.
