The aim of the evening was to promote how groups can recognise and reward their volunteers during this years Volunteers’ Week 1-7 June 2013.

Speaking at the event, Wendy Osborne OBE, Chief Executive, Volunteer Now, said: “We invited organisations to come along to the roadshow to hear about how they can be part of the biggest celebration of volunteering across the UK.

“They had the opportunity to pick up FREE resources to help recognise their volunteers, meet other volunteer involving organisations from the area, get ideas for celebrations and tips for media coverage. “

She added: ”Our theme for Volunteers Week 1 – 7 June is Celebrating Local Heroes.

“We believe all volunteers are heroes in their communities.

“There are currently over a quarter of a million volunteers in Northern Ireland who all play a vital role; from volunteer drivers to sports coaches, from hospital volunteers to those working in charity shops.

“Volunteers’ Week gives us the opportunity to shine the spotlight on these volunteers and give them the recognition and thanks they deserve.”
