THE final touches are today being put to what Magherafelt Council chair Paul McLean describes as the town’s ‘biggest ever’ food market this weekend.
Councillor McLean said the two-day event will attract many hundreds of people from throughout the Mid-Ulster area.
“A lot of work has gone into its preparation and the event certainly has the potential of being the biggest we have ever held,” he said.
Hosted by the Council with funding from DARD Christmas Market incorporates a craft market promoting quality hand made products.
The food and drink is all locally produced and visitors can either sample or just browse the many stalls.
A bandstand has been erected for musicians and carol singers to give proceedings that seasonal feel.
“There’s something for everyone,” said Mr McLean who will be attending the Christmas market tomorrow when it opens at 12 noon in the former Market Yard at Rainey Street.
The event runs from 12 noon to 9pm on Saturday and 12 noon to 6pm on Sunday.
