Almost 70 per cent of people in the Cookstown and Dungannon areas have said they are confident in the work that the Police Service of Northern Ireland carries out.

The figure of 69.5 per cent has increased from 67.3 per cent the previous year and the news has been welcomed by F District Commander, Chief Superintendent Kevin Dunwoody.

He said the result contained in the perceptions of policing survey reflects the hard work of all officers and staff across the District.

“The perceptions survey is one of the ways in which we can assess how good a job we are doing in providing a policing service.

“We recognise that we still have work to do but these results are encouraging that we are going the right way,” he said.

He said the PSNI remains wholeheartedly committed to delivering an effective and efficient police service and trying to better this figure over the coming year.
