A second suspicious approach to a child was made in the Mid Ulster area, this week the Mid Ulster Mail has learned.

On Tuesday, the day before the bid to abduct the child in Coagh, another young child in the Draperstown area was approached by a stranger while she played in the garden outside her home.

It is understood that a blue-coloured car drove slowly past the family home which is situated along the rural Cahore Road.

The vehicle then reversed to the gates of the property and a woman asked the young child if they wanted a lift.

It is understood that police in Magherafelt are now investigating this latest report.
