Cookstown motor vehicle apprentice Richard Cahoon has made it through to the second heat of the Auto Skills UK competition and already he has Brazil in sight.
Son of Willoughby Cahoon, owner of CVL Repairs in Cookstown, Richard is studying for an NVQ Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Apprenticeship at the Omagh campus of the South West College.
Richard’s high achievement on the course led to his lecturers nominating him for the UK Skills contest in Nottingham earlier this month.
And he now faces a second round to see if he has what it takes to get to the World Skills finals in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2015.
Richard, who has had an obsession with cars since he was a child, said he was delighted at having the opportunity to compete in such a prestigious event.
