A COOKSTOWN man has been made the subject of a confiscation order of £16,068.36 for waste offences.
The order, made against Kevin Higgins, 39, from Killybearn Road, was taken by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA).
During a site visit in May 2007, officers from the NIEA discovered that Mr Higgins had kept and illegally disposed of around 6,800 tonnes of controlled waste at land at Killybearn.
The waste, which included clay, reinforced concrete and demolition waste, was being kept without a waste management licence being in place for the site.
In 2008, Mr Higgins was previously sentenced to four months (suspended for two years), for four offences under Article 4 (1) a and 4 (1) b of the Waste and Contaminated Land Order (Northern Ireland) 1997.
The confiscation order was made at Dungannon Crown Court.
