PUPILS from Holy Trinity College and Cookstown High School have carried out a #HiPi test flight.

HiPi is a project to promote STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Mathematics) by launching a Raspberry Pi computer to near space (100 000ft), on a weather balloon, capturing images and data on route.

The team hopes to launch the near space flight after Christmas and plan to stream live images and data to the internet for other to follow during the flight.

Pupils have been involved in payload design, flight predictions and complex Raspberry Pi Coding using python.

The project has been made possible through sponsorship form Iteach, Cookstown District Council, DANI, BOC, J&K Coaches and Sinclair Hardware.
