CASTLEDAWSON cat lover Rebecca McQuillan has been reunited with her beloved pet who was found in Portstewart five months after she went missing from her home.

It’s believed Luna, who had to have her leg amputated due to an injury sustained sometime during her absence, accidentally hitched a lift to Portstewart after crawling underneath Rebecca’s mum’s car. Ironically, Rebecca, who spoke to the MAIL about her cat’s incredible adventure, is a Travel and Tourism foundation degree student at the Belfast Metropolitan College.

Luna who is deaf and has a cleft palate, which makes her ‘tail’ even more poignant, was back home at the weekend after a woman who had been looking after the cat recognised Rebecca’s appeal on one of the Lost and Found Pets pages on Facebook.

“I really want to thank the family who looked after Luna,” said Rebecca.
