EDUCATION Minister John O’Dowd yesterday attended the official opening of new premises for Magherafelt Nursery School.
A joint £4.8million project to construct new buildings for Magherafelt Nursery School and Magherafelt Primary School was announced by the previous Minister, Caitríona Ruane, in August 2010.
Construction work on both buildings has been completed. During his visit the Minister was given a tour of the new facilities, unveiled a mural and was treated to a Christmas performance from the children.
Minister O’Dowd said: “I welcome the opportunity to be part of the celebrations marking the official opening of new facilities for Magherafelt Nursery School.
“I want to thank everyone for their warm welcome and in particular the children for their fantastic performance. My Department has invested a total of £4.8million in new premises for this school and the accompanying primary school which will enable them to continue to provide quality education to young people in the local area for many years to come.
“The building provides a brand new state-of-the-art learning environment which will help the pupils to achieve their very best and enhance their educational experience.”
