A cross border partnership is assisting Magherafelt companies to explore and target new business opportunities in the construction sector.

The North West Region Cross Border Group – incorporating the Councils of Donegal, Derry/Londonderry, Strabane, Limavady and Magherafelt – secured funding to deliver the North West Construction Network Programme in 2012.

The Programme – which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund under the INTERREG IVA Programme – provides practical support to construction-focussed businesses in the five Council areas of the North West Region.

It helps them to identify opportunities and to convert these opportunities into new business.

Announcing the next phase of the Programme, Alderman Michael Coyle, Chairperson of the NW Region Cross Border Group said:“We are really excited to see the NW Construction Programme move into its next phase after having successfully engaged with more than 90 companies in the first phase.

“The impact of the economic recession has been hard on small businesses, not least for those whose fortunes rely on the construction sector.

“We are therefore delighted to see this project move forward and believe that it will make a real difference to businesses in our region”.

This phase of the Programme is being delivered by Belfast based Full Circle Management Solutions Ltd. Simon Devlin of Full Circle has said he intends to:“…recruit up to 80 small /medium sized businesses in the construction supply chain across the five Council areas.

“The Programme will involve a series of very practical skills development workshops, one to one business mentoring and a Meet the Buyer event, where participants will have the opportunity to meet with some of the largest buyers of construction-related products/services in the Province.

“This is a really exciting programme whose explicit aim is to help participants to identify, target and exploit new business opportunities”.
