A Magherafelt man who told police constable he would to “smash your eyebrows across your face”, was fined £165 at the local Magistrates Court.

Sean Paul Duggan (34), of Leckagh Walk, admitted disorderly behaviour at Queen Street/Moneymore Road of Magherafelt on November 22 last year.

A prosecuting lawyer said at 12.15am a police mobile patrol observed a male shouting at a female.

She said the police pulled alongside them and when an officer opened the door and asked if everything was okay, Duggan became agitated and told him to “just jog on.”

When told to calm down, Duggan began swearing and shouting at police, the lawyer went on.

She said defendant lounged at the officer and said he would “smash your eyebrows across your face.”

A defence lawyer said when police arrived Duggan was in the midst of a quarrel and his temper was up.

He stressed that the defendant calmed down immediately when he realised the error of his ways.
