A YOUNG Magherafelt man who used abusive language towards police officers during an incident outside a local pub house, was fined £115.

Adam Joseph Johnston (23), of Westland Gardens, admitted a charge of disorderly behaviour at Rainey Street car park on July 18 last year.

Defence solicitor Donal Heron said Johnston had come out of the licensed premises as his friend had been ejected and claimed he had been assaulted by doorstaff.

Mr Heron said Johnston, who had too much to drink, had been trying to explain matters to police officers.

He added that when Johnston calmed down he apologised to police.
