MAGHERAFELT District Council is to give £10,000 towards the renovation of the former cinema in the town.

As revealed by the MAIL last year, the building is being transformed to help the disabled and disadvantaged.

InVoLve House, as it will be known, will incorporate a base centre, changing needs (addressing learning disability), a community cafe, Alzheimer’s Outreach, Volunteer Centre and large activity room providing an outlet for health enhancing activities for all age groups.

The council contribution will purchase a lift for disability access.

SDLP councillor Jim Campbell said it was an excellent facility for Magherafelt.

DUP councillor Anne Forde also gave the project a warm welcome, saying it would be good for the town.
