A MAN was robbed as he walked at Maghera in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Detectives in Magherafelt are appealing for information following the robbery at Lower Main Street area at around 4am on Wednesday.

Police say the man was walking along Station Road when he was approached by an unknown male who threatened him, demanding that he hand over money. The victim ran off and was pursued by the offender.

The victim then handed over a sum of money to the offender on Lower Main Street, Maghera.

The victim did not sustain any injuries during this incident.

The offender is described as being approximately 5’10”/5’11”, wearing a navy or black hooded top and a dark scarf covering his face.

Detectives would ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact them at Magherafelt on 0845 600 8000. Or, alternatively, Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
