A man has been taken to hospital after a serious assault in Draperstown in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Two men have been arrested and the area of the attack close a bookmakers on High Street has been sealed off as the investigation continues.
A PSNI spokesman said: “It was reported that around 3.15am a 31-year-old man had been assaulted. He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.
“Two men aged 23 and 28 have been arrested and are currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.”
The spokesman added: “Police would appeal to anyone who witnessed the assault or anyone with any information to contact them at Magherafelt Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.”
Councillor Brian McGuigan said his thoughts were with the victim and his family.
“I have spoken to police, and from what I am told it was a serious attack.
“It is very concerning and my thoughts are with the victim his family and I hope that he makes a full recovery.”
