QUINNS from the world over will descend on the hills of Pomeroy in the coming weeks.
The ‘Teacht le chéile i dTír Eoghain’ (Come together in Tyrone) event, which will welcome Quinns from as far away as Australia, New Zealand, America, Cape Horn and Newfoundland is billed as a ‘once in a lifetime’ event.
Taking place on September 13, 14 and 15, Spanish, Italian, French and Irish Quinns will also gather to meet their far-away relations, reminisce about the past and share the stories of their ancestors.
The weekend event promises to be full of banter and bluff say the Tyrone Quinns, who added that anything could be possible when they are reunited with the descendants of clan members who emigrated in the past.
‘The Mighty Quinn’ gathering will showcase a talk on the Quinns of Tyrone by professor D O’Doibhlin on Friday at 8pm, on Saturday there will be a talk at 9.30am on the learning families of Ulster by Dr Peter Smith and finally, on Sunday, Louis Quinn will talk at 3pm about his book on the history of the Quinns.
There will also be a bus tour, morning coffee and lunch on the Saturday, followed by music in Murphy’s bar at 9pm.
