Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced the start of a road improvement scheme for Cookstown.

Work to provide a double right turning lane on the A29 Dungannon Road, into the Tullylagan Road and Killygarvan Road junctions, Cookstown will start on Monday 6 January 2014.

The Minister said “This scheme will greatly improve the safety for right turning vehicles on this busy Link corridor at these junctions.”

The work is expected to take ten weeks to complete. During the construction work a 40mph speed limit and traffic control measures will be in operation.

Roads Service have carefully planned these road works and traffic management proposals in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however motorists should expect delays and allow additional time when planning their journey.

UUP Cookstown Councillor Trevor Wilson welcomed the Ministers announcement that work on these junctions will start early in the New Year, saying: “Both these junctions are very busy and any work to improve their safety is to be welcomed.”
