The near constant rainfall in recent months has caused severe road surface deterioration, potholes, flooding and blockage of gullies, according to Magherafelt SDLP Councillor Martin Kearney.
He revealed that constituents have continually been in touch with his Maghera Office regarding road conditions in the local area.
“I have forwarded many requests for consideration to Roads Service from Glenone to Ranaghan, and from Swatragh to Bellaghy,” said Councillor Kearney, who took over on the council from his party colleague Kate Lagan two months ago following her retirement.
“I have received great support and co-operation from Roads Service who I believe are doing an excellent job. I thank them for their recent repairs to the Moneysharvan Road and look forward to the imminent road repairs to the A42 Gulladuff - Mayogall Road.”
He added: “I know that the local residents will suffer the short term inconvenience for the greater good.”
