Michaella McCollum and Melissa Reid had sentencing delayed.

SENTENCING of Dungannon woman Michaella McCollum for trying to smuggle drugs has been delayed due to a strike by Peruvian judicial.

She and co-accused Melissa Reid, from Glasgow, have pleaded guilty to attempting to smuggle cocaine worth £1.5m.

Both women, who claimed they were coerced into trying to smuggle the drugs, are hoping that in return for their guilty pleas they will get shortened jail sentences.

No new court date has been set, and officials said they could offer no guarantee it will take place before Christmas.
