A teenager from Coalisland has been seriously injured after being involved in a two vehicle collision in Coalisland at the weekend.

Aoife Corr, 18, suffered ‘multiple fractures’ after the car she was travelling in collided with another vehicle on the Brackaville Road, Coalisland just after 3pm on Saturday (14th December).

Another female who was in the car with Miss Corr was also hurt, but her injuries are not thought to be serious.

Aoife, a pupil at St Patrick’s Academy, Dungannon and a talented camogie player underwent seven hours of surgery at the Royal Victoria Hosptial on Saturday night.

Family and friends of Miss Corr posted messages of support on Facebook and wished Aoife a speedy recovery.

She remains in an induced coma in Intensive Care at the RVH.

Tyrone Camogie posted on facebook “Aoife Corr Tyrone under 16 Ulster champions. Everyone in Tyrone wishing Aoife a speedy recovery. Get well soon Aoife.”

The Brackaville Road was closed for a time on Saturday night as police carried out investigations.
