Tyrone Somme Memorial Association members made their first appearance at the weekend in their newly purchased WWI Army and Nurse uniforms, with their new 36th Ulster Division Standard also making its debut.

The Association have been contracted by Killyman Orange Order District to attend several church services in the area and the parade to St Elizabeth’s Church of Ireland in Moygashel began what promises to be a very busy time for the Association.

Chairman Michael Wilson said, “We want to thank our members who have dug deep to pay for their uniforms and of course Killyman District whose help financially has allowed us to kit out our members to a very high standard with uniforms which are exact replicas of those worn during WWI. It was also nice to get our flag dedicated alongside Moygashel SOU’s standard at the service and we would like to thank Killyman District WM Kenny Montgomery and St Elizabeth’s Minister for allowing us to be part of this historic event.”

The Association will be on parade practically every weekend between now and August, with events in Lisnaskea, Randalstown, Dungannon to name but a few.

On a sadder note the officers and members would like to offer their sincere condolences to member Stephen Davison and his family circle on the death of Stephen’s mother.
