THE parishioners of Bellaghy are hoping to create a permanent tribute to Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney who was buried in the village just over a week ago.
Since then hundreds of people from all over the country have visited his final resting place in St Mary’s parish graveyard.
Former councillor and parishioner Oliver Hughes said the parish wanted to create something to reflect the poet’s legacy that would stand the test of time.
“People are visiting in large numbers now but they will still be coming here in a hundred years time to visit the grave,” he said.
