A COOKSTOWN woman who underwent a bone marrow transplant after being diagnosed with a rare blood disorder, has presented cheques to the Northern Ireland Children’s Cancer Unit Fund following fundraising events.

Amanda Weir had the transplant after her sister Pamela donated bone marrow 25 years ago.

In January this year, Amanda recieved a cheque for £1000 from Lissan Vintage Club which was made in connection with her fundraising efforts. The Cookstown woman also presented a cheque totalling £5015.40 to the NICCUF which was a result of all the fundraising events held by family and friends as well as businesses in Cookstown.

Amanda said she wants to thank everyone who contributed to this very worthwhile cause.
