£14,000 fine for waste offences

A DRAPERSTOWN tyre company and its director were fined £7,000 each plus court costs totalling £62 at Magherafelt Magistrates Court for the unauthorised collection and disposal of several thousand tyres.

Tyre Disposal Services and its director Dermot Grant, were fined a total of £14,000 in relation to the illegal collection and disposal of 16,000 waste tyres at 19a Clone Lane, Draperstown. There was no licence in place for the premises.
