Ancre Somme Association

ANCRE Somme Association, Tyrone Branch will be holding their next monthly meeting in Moygashel Orange Hall at 8pm on Wednesday (March 6).

The fledgling Ancre Somme group has went from strength to strength since its inception in October, attending numerous events across Northern Ireland and beyond with several trips and meetings planned for the coming months.

March’s meeting will incorporate a presentation by Dessie Cumberland on his recent trips to the Somme War Grave sites and with the Association planning it’s own visits to the historic battleground, the Powerpoint display will hopefully encourage more members to sign up for the trip in 2014.

The Tyrone Branch are also currently planning two talks by the renowned Ulster Historian, Quincey Dougan on the formation in 1913 of the Ulster Volunteers in the Cookstown and Dungannon areas, full details of which will be released shortly.

The next outing for the Tyrone Branch will be on 6th April when a visit to the Somme Heritage Centre and Craigavon House has been organised, anyone wishing to book a seat on the bus should do so at the March meeting.

New members are very welcome to attend the next meeting and find out more about the activities of the Ancre Somme Association.
