Attempted Post Office robbery

DETECTIVES in Cookstown are appealing for information about an attempt to rob a sub-post office at Tullyhogue this morning, Friday, February 3.

At about 9.40am two men went into the post office at Main Street and threatened a member of staff with a crowbar. The men made off empty-handed when an alarm sounded.

The men and an accomplice are believed to have made off in a black saloon car in the direction of Stewartstown or Newmills.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact CID in Cookstown Police Station on 0845 600 8000. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
