EXCITED pupils at Blessed Patrick O’Loughran PS in Castlecaulfield were given the opportunity to meet the award winning author, Colin Bateman, recently.

Bateman, who has also written extensively for film and created the long-running BBC1 series, Murphy’s Law, visited the school to mark the re-publication of his classic first children’s novel, Running with the Reservoir Pups.

Colin Bateman has penned 20 crime novels including Divorcing Jack, Mystery Man and I Predict A Riot. His stage play, National Anthem, was the sold-out hit of the Ulster Bank Festival in 2010.

He was recently made an Honorary Doctor of Letters by the University of Ulster for his services to literature.

The famous author has published eight novels for children.

During his visit to Castlecaulfield, Bateman gave an inspirational talk to children on the importance of reading, followed by an excerpt from Running with the Reservoir Pups.

He also signed copies of the book.
