DETECTIVES in Cookstown are appealing for information about the robbery of a cash-in-transit van.
At around noon on Thursday, security firm staff making a delivery to the Driver and Vehicle Testing Station at Strifehill Road were confronted by a man wielding a wrench.
After stealing a cash box, the robber and an accomplice made off in a Toyota Avensis car that had southern registration plates.
The car was later found abandoned at Derryloran Industrial Estate and the robbers are thought to have transferred to another vehicle.
Police want to hear from anyone who saw two cars arriving at the Industrial Estate before the robbery and the Toyota returning there afterwards, and can help identify the second getaway car.
The number to call is 0845 600 8000, quoting reference number 424 04/10/12.
