Church Street group receives £50,000 Lotto grant

A MAGHERAFELT community organisation will be able to carry out energy saving improvements to its venue thanks to a grant from the Big Lottery Fund.

Church Street Community Association is one of 20 groups across Northern Ireland awarded grants totalling nearly £438,000 from the Big Lottery Fund’s Energy Efficient Venues programme. (See table attached for full list of grants.)

The programme offers Lottery cash to local groups to carry out improvements to their community venues so they make savings on their heating and lighting costs and cut down on their spending.

The association will use a grant of £50,000 to carry out a range of improvements to their community venue, helping reduce their energy bills and saving them money they can put back into running community activities.

PVC double glazed windows will be put in, the roof and floor will be insulated, the existing external front and back doors will be replaced and a new high efficiency oil boiler, radiators and heating controls will also be installed. New energy efficient lighting will also replace existing fittings to make the venue more energy efficient.
