Cookstown Councillors give support to Agewell Project

SDLP Councillor Christine McFlynn welcomed the support by all councillors for her Notice of Motion commending the work of the Agewell project.

She said: “As Cookstown council’s representative on the Agewell committee I have witnessed first hand the work that they undertake. The Agewell project is an extension of the Good Morning project primarily focusing on the elderly and vulnerable. These people at times feel isolated in their community and may be suffering from depression or mental illness.”

Agewell is primarily run by volunteers, who work from their Magherafelt base. They also offer a home visit service to those unable to attend their office.

“Agewell are currently funded through the Lottery Programme, though this funding will run out in 2015,” said Christine. “Their manager Shauna McCrystal can be contacted on 028 7963 2170, or by email at info@agewellpartnership.org”
