Cookstown Fr Rocks honoured by Council

On Friday Cookstown District Council welcomed Cookstown Fr Rocks to the Burnavon in honour of their achievement in winning the All Ireland Intermediate Club Championship.

This was the second time in 3 years the Club has won this prestigious title and have entered the history books of the GAA as the first Club in Ireland to win the title two times.

Marking the occasion Chairman of Cookstown District Council, Councillor Tony Quinn stated:

“Cookstown Father Rocks, the oldest Club in Tyrone has made an incalculable contribution towards the development and growth of our communities and our town for decades. Its role in shaping the personal, cultural and professional development of young men and women over the years has been instrumental in helping this town grown and develop in the manner that it has”.

Councillor Quinn presented an inscribed crystal award to Team Captain Eoin Mulligan in recognition of the team’s achievements.

The Civic Reception was attended by players, management and committee members from Cookstown Fr Rocks as well as Local Representatives and the Chief Executive (Acting) from Cookstown District Council.

Special guests in attendance included Mr Michael Hasson, Vice President of the Ulster Council and Mr Ciaran McLaughlin Chairman of Tyrone County Board.

Cookstown District Council would like to take this opportunity to wish Cookstown Fr Rocks every success in the incoming year and good luck in Division 1.
