Cookstown HS pupils’ ‘Eco App’ reaches Dragons final

ULSTER Unionist Assembly Member for Mid-Ulster, Sandra Overend, has offered her congratulations and support to the pupils of Cookstown High School, who have made it to the National Finals of the RTE Junior Dragons’ Den to be held in Dublin on December 8.

Sandra, who is also the UUP’s Spokesperson for Children and Young People, said:

“I would like to take this opportunity to pass on my congratulations to Anona Weir, Joel Glendinning, Rachel Woodward and Daniel Brown on their success thus far with creating their App, called ‘EcoSmart’ which promotes Effective Recycling and Home Energy Saving.

“They have done so well in reaching the National Finals of the RTE Junior Dragons’ Den and I wish them the best of luck with that competition.

“Should they get past this round, they could feature in the televised Junior Dragons’ Den in January. This is all on the back of a successful Regional Finals in November in Belfast for the team.”

Ms Overend continued: “The App which they created does a great job helping to raise eco-awareness and gives practical advice to those who download it.

“In this tough economic climate, we could all do with energy saving tips. The App is available to download by searching EcoSmart in your App Store, or by going to http://tinyurl.com/ecosmart12.

“Once again, I would like to wish Anona, Joel, Rachel andDaniel all the best for the competition in Dublin. All of us in Mid-Ulster would love to see you all on the TV come the new year.”
