Damage to Magherafelt chapel ‘not sectarian’

MAGHERAFELT police are appealing for information following minor criminal damage to the interior of the Roman Catholic Church at King Street in the town.

Police say that the damage was caused to a piece of furniture sometime between 2.15pm and 3.30pm yesterday (Thursday).

A male and female believed to be in their late teens or early twenties were in the chapel at the time. Police are keen to speak to them.

It is understood that police are not treating the incident as sectarian or linking it to the flag protest.
