Dungannon to host major Job Fair and Advice Forum

THE Department for Employment and Learning is holding a major “Job Fair and Advice Forum” at Dungannon Leisure Centre from 10.00am to 4.00pm on Friday 7 December 2012.

A number of employers from the area have committed to attend the event and will be offering job opportunities on the day in various sectors including retail, manufacturing, agri-foods and engineering.

Lorna Thompson from the Department for Employment and Learning’s Employment Service said “The Job Fair and Advice Forum will bring together a wide range of employers to a central location where jobseekers can meet with them and apply for vacancies.

One of the main employers who will be in attendance on the day will be local independent supermarket Newell Stores who are opening a new store in Coalisland.

Colin Conway from Newells said: “We are delighted to be opening a new store and to be in a position to offer jobs to those looking for work in the surrounding area. We are looking forward to the Job Fair as it will give jobseekers an opportunity to get application forms and speak with our staff on the day.”

The Department’s Employment Service staff will also be in attendance offering a wide range of programmes and services including Careers Service advice and guidance.

Support will also be available which will enable jobseekers to develop CVs, complete application forms and conduct online job-search.

Inviting jobseekers from across the area to attend this event Lorna concluded “I would encourage anyone unemployed or looking for work to take this excellent opportunity to come along and talk to employers on a one-to-one basis and find out more information about the vacancies and other support services that will be available on the day”.

British and Irish sign language signers will be available from 10 am to 12 noon for anyone with hearing difficulties.
