Election poster removal slammed

SINN Féin has hit out at those responsible for removing the party's election posts in the Loughshore area recently.

The party’s councillor for the area Michael McIvor told the MAIL he was informed by constituents in the area about the removal of election material last Wednesday (May 12).

And he said Sinn Fin has always been subjected to attempts in the past ‘to silence our politics and censor our message’.

“We have been resilient throughout these attempts and will continue to promote the policies and strategies that we believe will set the foundations to which an Ireland of equals may be built,” he said.

The Sinn Fin councillor said those who engage in these activities, be they criminal, loyalist or those who exiled themselves to the fringes of republicanism, must realise that they will not be distracted from executing their duties in this election.

And he added: “Sinn Fin is committed to representing all the people in which we serve and to pursue our primary goal of uniting Ireland through the peaceful path that has become available in recent years.”
