Funeral for Cookstown fire victim

THE funeral of Cookstown fire victim David Major takes place in the town later today.

The 59-year-old died in a blaze which broke out at his house in Cooke Crescent shortly before 1.50pm last Saturday.

Mr Major’s elderly mother, Lily, managed to escape from the fire.

A funeral service will be held in Derryloran Parish Church at 1pm on Thursday followed by interment in Cookstown cemetery.

Mr Major was well known in local football circles, having played for Killymoon Rangers when he was younger.
