Kilcronaghan to hold ninth vintage rally

AFTER the long, wet, gloomy “summer”, both adults and children deserve a relaxing day out, with plenty of attractions for all age groups. No better event, then, than Kilcronaghan’s ninth annual Vintage Rally this Saturday.

This year there will be so much to see and do, that the hours between 11am and 3pm will just slip away – and, as an extra bonus, all young people of school age will have nothing to pay!

In addition to all types of vintage cars, tractors, engines, motor bikes and lorries, there will be climbing walls; bouncy castles; rare and native breeds of sheep and cattle; Scottish, Irish and Line dancing; falcon displays; working dog displays; pottery demonstrations; face and nail painting and family pet show. Home produce will also be on sale.

An extra field is being made available to accommodate all the stalls and car boot sellers. Hot and cold refreshments will be available all day.

Vintage exhibitors will be given a complimentary light lunch and a small souvenir. All exhibitors and stall holders are advised to arrive early – certainly before 11am when all the activities will begin.

So whether your grandchildren want to tackle the climbing wall, or your granny wants to join in the line dancing – bring them all along to Kilcronaghan Activity Centre at the Five Road Ends (at the centre of the Draperstown, Desertmartin, Tobermore triangle).

The Community Association always puts a huge amount of effort and planning into this annual event and they always welcome voluntary help (tel. 7962 7826).

This is a great opportunity for young people to enhance their CV and, once again, the organisers are most grateful for assistance from the members of Curragh Young Farmers Club.

Sincere thanks are also given to local businesses for sponsorship and to Magherafelt District Council’s Festival Grant for support.
