THE parents of a Coalisland toddler who suffers from a devastating neuro muscular condition, have paid tribute to the generosity of a local supermarket which made a fantastic donation of £500 after reading about his story in the Tyrone Times.

Luke O’Hanlon, from Derrytresk, has been diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which is a cruel muscle wasting, life limiting disease.

His mum, Claire, said she has been overwhelmed by the kindness of staff at Newell Stores in Dungannon, who got in touch with her following the article in July of this year.

“After the first article that was in the Tyrone Times back in July, Newell Stores had got in contact to say that they would like to donate £500!

“They are a member of Making a Difference Locally which allows them to accumulate money per items they sell from the supplier Nisa. The money builds up then they choose a charity that they would like to donate to and they chose the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign after seeing that first article.

“I would like to say a big thank you to the management and staff of Newell Stores for their kindness and generosity in donating to a charity which is working to find a way to stop children like Luke being affected by this awful disease.”
