Lorry driver fined

A COALISLAND lorry driver has been fined a total of £700 at Larne Court for tachograph offences.

Stephen McCaffrey, 23, of Reenaderry Road, received a was £350 penalty for failing to use the tachograph recording instrument installed in his vehicle, and a further £350 for failing to complete the centerfield correctly on a previous tachograph chart.

On 18 February last year, DVA Enforcement Officers stopped an articulated large goods vehicle on the Harbour Highway, Larne, for the purposes of conducting a compliance spot check.

Upon scrutiny of the vehicle’s tachograph instrument it became apparent that the driver had failed to use the tachograph recording equipment and on a previous occasion had failed to properly complete the centrefield of his tachograph chart thereby rendering his drivers’ hours and records unreliable.
