Make your voices heard, say politicians

MID-ULSTER politicians have this week been urging people to make their voices heard when the Consumer Council roadshow rolls into Meadowlane Shopping Cnetre next Friday (February 19)

Speaking this week DUP MLA Ian McCrea said: “This free clinic is open to all in order to allow consumers to voice their opinions and explain first hand how consumer issues are affecting them,” he said. “There will be a team of Consumer Council staff there on the day who will be happy to help or take a complaint about such issues as an electricity bill you have concerns about or if you’re keen to find out about your rights or a complaint about your business’s water bill.”

And he added: “The Consumer Council has a legal power to enquire and get answers on the consumers’ behalf, so I welcome the roadshow coming to Magherafelt and hope that consumers take this opportunity to make their voices heard.

Sinn Fins MLA for Mid Ulster, Francie Molloy also welcomed the announcement by the Consumer Council that they are to host the first regional consumer clinic between 2pm and 8pm next Friday.

Mr Molloy said: “I am delighted that the Consumer council have taken the initiative to bring this service out to the people.

“The clinic will be free and open to everyone and a team of advisors will be on hand to provide advice and listen to consumer views about public transport, air and ferry travel, electricity, coal, water, shopping rights and money matters.

“I would urge anyone with a consumer related concern to avail of this opportunity.”
